Skydiving Fun

September 24th, 2007

My good friend, Ryan Fyfe-Brown, called me last Tuesday and asked.

Ryan – “You wanna jump out of a plane on Saturday?”

Me – “Yes… yes I do”

So Ryan, Brian, Cole, Steve, Kevin, Martin, Barry and I drove out to
Westlock skydiving center to jump out some planes saturday.

The night before. Ryan thought it would be a good idea to sike us
up watching youTube videos of skydiving accidents and also wrote
a full “Will” for his parents incase of the unfortunate event in which
his chute did not open. Steve would get his lungs…and Cole would get
his wonderful benches.

6:30 am driving…

Ryan stoked for Tim Hortons Breakfast.

When we all got there… no one wanted to go last because everyone
wanted to get it over with. Picking names out of the hat so see who
goes first.

Steve’s name popped out first…Lucky. My name came last…Unlucky.

We had about a 20 min lesson on what was going to happen when
we got up in the plane. We were doing a “tandem” jump, when an
instructor is attached to you so you don’t have to pull the chute.
The advantage is that you get to free fall for about 30 secs. Instead
of 5 if you went by yourself for the first time.

Cole is looking pretty stoked on the idea.

It gets really serious when they all realized they are jumping out a tiny plane at
10000 feet above the ground. Steve looking less stoked that he is going first.

Even less stoked about going first.

Stressed out so they need to have a smoke.

Brian and Steve all suited up. Steve was pretty much shitting in
his pants right now.

Ryan getting some practice in for the free fall.

Steve and Brian coming down for a safe landing.

Ryan with some excellent body position for diving.

Cole and I suited up ready to go.

Everyone safe and sound after the jump. If you have the 230 bones
and a free day, go for a jump. Its hard to explain how crazy
the sensation is but it’s well worth the time and money.

I Hope to get some new footy online soon. The skate season is almost
over and I have lots of left over footy. I’m thinking a montage of
some kind. -NZ

    Hey,
I’m interested in skydiving but I have an exam the day before in school…I will be studying everyday leading up to the exam so I’ll be pretty stressed out…do you think that it’s a good idea to go skydiving the very next day?

    thank you

Yup you’ll be fine, just make sure you have a couple hours after to come down for the natural ‘high’. Have fun!
