Being Original

Its a really hard thing to be original these days. Everyone takes a little from everything around them and makes it there own.

I found it interesting to hear that Shepard Fairey, the artist behind this Obama poster, is apparently getting sued for the use of this photo. Its clear that he did he’s own rendition of the photo, and further more, Sherpard hasn’t received a cent from the Obama camp for his artwork. Although he was pushed into the limelight for it.

Even more interesting is the whole style of the poster is a redition from and artist named Jim Fitzpatrick, who did a poster version of the even more famous of a photo from Alberto Korda of Che Guevara.

    Have you seen this? Milton Glaser’s take on the Shepard Fairey controversy. It’s pretty interesting.
